Kia Motors’ UK division announced that it is sponsoring the ITV’s coverage of the FA Cup (the Football Association Challenge Cup) for the 2010/2011 season. The move is a new step that demonstrates the company’s involvement with high-profile football events such as the FIFA World Cup.
This is a multi-platform sponsorship that debuted with the first round draw on the 24th October and will run throughout the 2010/2011 domestic football season.
To show its passion for the game, Kia has created three characters: Keith, Ian and Andy. Viewers will be able to follow the characters over the course of the season as they have debuted a journey that is covering all the games, riding in the new Kia Sportage.
“We’re passionate about football at Kia and are delighted to sponsor coverage of the oldest and most prolific domestic football competition in the world. Kia has seen tremendous growth in recent years and this partnership is another great way for our brand to reach even more people,” said Simon Hetherington, Marketing Director, Kia Motors (UK) Limited.
“ITV is proud to be the home of live free-to-air football and The FA Cup is an integral part of that offering. We’re really excited to have Kia Motors on board, across all of ITV’s platforms, for what promises to be yet another great season for the world’s most famous domestic football competition,” said Gary Knight, Brand Partnerships Director at ITV.
The partnership will include broadcast sponsorship on ITV1, ITV1 HD, ITV4, online sponsorship at ITV.com, as well as sponsorship across ITV’s interactive and mobile platforms.
