Kias are no longer the cars you buy because you can’t afford anything else. Together with partner Hyundai, they have reshaped the way Europeans and Americans look at automobiles made in Korea, from the Genesis to the little Picanto.
Hyundai never had a hot version of the i30, and there’s one coming by the sound of things. But Kia has a bit of a history with the pro cee’d, which if we remember correctly had the looks but never the power. Think of it more like an Astra GTC with various engines.
Kia has today released this teaser sketch for another sporty car based on the new cee’d. It’s got most of the lines in common with the five-door, but its roofline slopes toward the rear and it only has two doors. What’s more, with aggressive profile and a bit of flaring on the wheelarches, it looks more sporty.
There will be a complete engine range coming your way, with diesels and frugal turbos, but the one we’re waiting for is the 1.6-liter turbo, which is supposed to have the full 200 hp, unlike the European Veloster Turbo.
