Kia is presenting its offensive for the upcoming Paris Auto Show. The most important vehicle in the Kia stand will be the POP concept, which will make its world debut at the event.
The eye-catching concept was designed by Kia’s European design team under the direction of Peter Schreyer, Kia’s Chief Design Officer, and Gregory Guillaume, Kia Europe’s Chief Designer.
“A concept car like the POP could only have come from us,” explains Gregory Guillaume. “Designers very rarely have the opportunity to start from a clean sheet of paper and it’s great to be in a position to operate with such freedom.”
Kia will also display a number of production models that showcase its latest design language. These will be led by the D-segment Optima. The model will make its European debut at the event before hitting select European markets this year. The vehicle will debut in Western Europe next year.
This will be followed by the Kia Sportage compact SUV, which will soon be available with two new engines. Both will be downsized units and will be mated only to 2WD drivetrains and six-speed manual transmissions in order to offer a high fuel efficiency.
Kia’s stand will also display multiple “green” models, such as the cee’d and Venga low emissions models and the mild hybrid Kia Sportage concept.
autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
