Josh Cartu’s LaFerrari Aperta Certainly Looks the Part

If you’re passionate about mid-engined Ferraris, then you might have heard of Josh Cartu. Not only is he a Gumball 3000 regular, but Josh Cartu is a tribe leader on DriveTribe.com, an online platform helmed by Jeremy Clarkson and his two amigos.

Cartu’s love for the Prancing Horse can be best understood by taking a look at this Bianco Italia-painted LaFerrari Aperta. One of 209 units, this neat-looking Fezza also happens to be one of the first five examples delivered.

“I'm either the luckiest guy in the world for receiving one of the first 5 LaFerrari Apertas or the biggest idiot for being in LA when it's being delivered,”
the man said at the beginning of October, when he took delivery. Other than the bite-the-back-of-your-hand beautiful exterior color, Cartu’s LaFerrari Aperta is equipped with a steering wheel that features a plaque with the owner’s name. Considering that pricing starts from $2.1 million and all cars have been spoken for, a plaque isn’t such a bad idea after all.

Just like the 70th anniversary special editions presented by Ferrari at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the interior of the LaFerrari Aperta features another plaque that reads “70” and “1947 – 2017.” The Starlite Alcantara seat upholstery with yellow stitching is complemented by the black-painted wheels and yellow brake calipers. Under the skin, though, the 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta features the same innards as the fixed-head 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari.

Thanks to a combined 963 PS (950 horsepower) from a 6.3-liter V12 with 800 PS on tap and a 120 kW electric motor, as well as a curb weight not far off that of the regular LaFerrari, the Aperta is able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds. Top speed? “Over 350 km/h” or 217 mph, even with the roof off. What’s most impressive about the LaFerrari Aperta, however, is that the drag coefficient mirrors that of the fixed-head LaFerrari (Cd 0.3).
