The Jeep Patriot apparently has more than the lack of design flair going against it, as the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) has just opened an investigation regarding it. It concerns cars built in 2011 and 2012, and it involves an engine stalling issue, which occurs at high speeds.
If it turns into a recall, some 112,000 Jeep Patriots will have to be recalled. However, so far just 12 complaints have been filed, of which 10 occurred at speeds over 105 km/h (65 mph). Now, while the engine may be easily restartable afterward, if the issue were to occur at night, restarting the engine would mean shutting off the headlights for a brief period of time, while at speed, on the highway - scary stuff!

Of the total number of complaints, however, a reported eight vehicles could not be restarted after the stall. Owners have expressed their worries and are now waiting to be contacted by dealers, in view of fixing the problem.
