Jeep J8 Receives Ballistic Protection Certification

So, you’re in the market for an armored vehicle. You’re not looking for any tank-killer, just a civilian cat that can offer you protection against certain weapons.

When buying a car, most people are concerned about safety, but you have to be extra careful, as your daily schedule might include one or two attacks on you. Regular folks can easily check out a vehicle’s IIHS rating if they are uncertain about the level of safety this has to offer, but what can you do?

Well, the manufacturers will provide a complete list of specifications for the armored creations, but maybe you want to see an independent review. Fortunately, somebody has thought about this.

Let us offer you an example. We are going to talk about the Jeep J8, a vehicle that is engineered to withstand attacks that include small fire arms. The model is currently offered for state and private security operations and can be ordered in a wide variety of configurations to suit every customer’s needs.

Well, the Jeep J8 has just been awarded the BRV 2009 VR7 ballistic protection certificate. We won’t start explaining the exact specifications but you can be sure that the vehicle is very good at doing its job. However, Chrysler says that it is relying on an innovative manufacturing technique: hot-forming steel to create a protective shield for the car.

The certification was awarded after Chrysler subjected the vehicle to a series of ballistic and blast tests. The results can be seen in the adjacent image.
