Jaguar XKR-S Participates in Race the Runway Charity Event

Jaguar decided to show its support to The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and Scottish Burned Children's Club this year by participating in the Race the Runway event. Held at Edinburgh Airport the event saw 32 cars compete in drag races along a 1,800-metre runway. The XKR-S beat off fierce competition to make it to the semi-final.

Unfortunately, with the best that Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bentley had to offer present at the event, the mighty Jag was eventually beaten, but only by vehicles valued at over twice the XKR-S coupe’s £97,000 price tag. From stand-still the 550-hp Jaguar hit 100 mph in just over eight seconds before being measured reaching a terminal speed of 165 mph.

"We're delighted that Jaguar supported the Race the Runway event this year and our thanks go to them.  The event raised a combined total of over £11,000 this year for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and the Scottish Burned Children's Club which will make a valuable difference.  I was fortunate enough to passenger in the XKR-S and what a thrill it was. It's not every day you achieve 165 mph in a brand new Jaguar on an airport runway!” said Ashley Kilgour, Corporate Fundraiser, The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.

Now in its third year, Race the Runway has so far raised over £40,000 for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and other co-nominated charities.  This year's event saw a record entry level, as joining the XKR-S and the XKR in the line up of vehicles was an XFR, also making its Scottish debut.
