In the midst of the the Los Angeles Auto Show, Infiniti found the time to show us a couple of teaser images for a brand new electric sportscar concept. The sculpted coupe looks a bit like a BMW Z4 and will debut at the Geneva Auto Show in March 2012.
Meant to “extend the potential for high performance, low emission electric cars,” the yet unnamed concept is powered by an electric motor, but also has a range extender to deal with your range anxiety.
"At the Geneva show next year, we will present our vision for a totally new kind of inspired premium performance car. Infiniti already has hybrid and clean diesel models on sale. And with an all-electric sedan on the way, the natural next step was to push the boundaries where performance and the environment intersect,” said Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Co.
We can expect to see a production version of the Essence Concept from 2009 at next year’s Geneva Motor Show. Past rumors suggested that Lotus is behind the chassis development of this car, but we have no information on the output of the powertrain.
