We reported earlier about the plans Polaris has for Indian Motorcycles and they way the battle against Harley-Davidson will see the new Indian motorcycles treading on proper Indian soil. The third week of January is said to be the historic moment when the new Indian bikes make it in India.
However, the new Indian machines are reaching India as CBU (completely built units) bikes and this means their premium character will make them even more exclusive and expensive.

We know that Polaris and Indian machinery will be sold in separate showrooms, to preserve the distinct nature of the two brands intact. Something tells us that Indian is testing the new market and in case the feedback is as expected, we might see a new Indian manufacturing plant for CKD motorcycles being born.

Such a move will help Indian Motorcycles lower the manufacturing costs for the bikes they plan to sell in the emerging Asian markets, while at the same time being a helping hand in the effort to level the score with Harley, because yes, there's a silent war out there.
