Triumph upgrades their big-bore cruiser line-up, and it's time for the 2014 Thunderbird Commander to step in.
The bike shares the platform used to make the Thunderbird LT, but the Commander is more on the spartan, sober side. Free from all the classic bling cruisers come with on a regular basis, the 2014 Triumph Thunderbird Commander is lighter and looks more compact.

The dual headlight is a great match for the chunky forks and retains the Triumph trademark. The chassis has been revised and the new pulled-back bars flow neatly with the shape of the tank, which in turn, complements the seat lines.

Commander rolls with an 1699cc parallel-twin engine which is good for 92 hp at 5400 rpm and a sweet 111 ft-lb (150.6 Nm) at 3550 rpm, making sure there's plenty of nerve across the rpm range.

Triumph uses Showa forks, 47mm in diameter and with 120mm of travel, while the rear Showa shock provides 95mm of travel and 5-way adjustability.

Nissin calipers are used for the 310 mm front rotors, while the 310 rear one is squeezed by Brembo hardware, in a rather peculiar combination. 140Mm bobber-approved front rubber complements the 200mm rear tire.

With a 22-liter (5.8 gal), the 2014 Triumph Thunderbird Commander is good for long hauls and will surely be a sweet cruising machine on the open highway. Prices TBA.
