How Zyrus Engineering Made a 1,200-HP Lambo Huracan Performante Street-Legal

I don’t exactly like the visual bulk of that gargantuan spoiler, but you won’t hear me complaining about 4,431 lbs (2,010 kg) of downforce either.

When it comes down to fiddling with supercars, the gifted auto masters over at Norway’s Zyrus Engineering are definitely no rookies. While their range may not exactly be what you’d call extensive (yet), it still houses a couple of the wildest Lambos we’ve seen to this very day. Oh, and as if those feral bulls weren’t already solid proof of the crew’s outstanding abilities, the Scandinavian enterprise also prides itself with numerous appearances in the fascinating realm of motorsport.

Their Super Trofeo EVO-based undertaking (dubbed LP1200) should give you a clear idea as to what Zyrus’ pros are made of, but it’d appear that monstrous piece of carbon-clad machinery was just the beginning. This bad boy went on to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a mind-boggling 6:29, making it the fastest Lambo that’s ever visited the Green Hell, but we never thought we’d get to see a street-legal version of this fiend – until now, that is.

If you’re seeking to become the king of the road and look pretty damn rad while doing so, then the company’s LP1200 Strada may just be the answer to your prayers. This time around, the creature in question is a vicious Lamborghini Huracan LP640-4 Performante at its core. For comparison’s sake, we’ll be taking a quick look at the original car’s main specs and features before we dive in.

Lambo’s coupe is put in motion by a brutal 5.2-liter V10 leviathan that’ll be more than happy to deliver as much as 631 hp (640 PS) at 8,000 rpm. On the other hand, the engine is perfectly capable of unleashing up to 442 pound-feet (600 Nm) of ruthless twisting force at approximately 6,500 revs. A seven-speed automatic transmission is tasked with distributing this fierce oomph to all four wheels, leading to a whopping top speed of 202 mph (325 kph).

Sure, your regular Huracan Performante is cool and all, but Zyrus’ LP1200 Strada is a different animal. Although this untamed behemoth weighs 3,146 lbs (1,427 kg), making it 346 lbs (157 kg) heavier than its track-only brother, the Strada is still 278 lbs (126 kg) lighter than a standard Performante.

Additionally, the graceful carbon fiber body kit developed by the Norwegian firm will produce no less than 4,431 lbs (2,010 kg) of downforce at 124 mph (200 kph), and we'll bet that humungous rear spoiler plays a significant role in achieving that figure. Long story short, as many as 600 stock components have been discarded in favor of custom counterparts.

However, the most impressive upgrades took place in the engine bay, where the tuner’s top-grade twin-turbo module works in unison with fresh intake manifolds and a titanium exhaust system to unlock 1,200 hp from the V10 powerplant, which is simply jaw-dropping. When driving on public roads, the mill’s force can be limited to 900 hp via your smartphone or the Smart Dash control system.

To accomplish this spectacular feat, the LP1200 Strada was subjected to “rigorous testing and over 6000 km of track action." Last but not least, only twelve copies of Lamborghini’s Huracan Performante will receive this conversion, and each will be priced at an eye-watering €595,000 ($723,525 as per current exchange rates). The aforementioned price tag will also earn you a free track day with the engineers behind this four-wheeled marvel.
