Broken stock stereo unit on 2008 Scion tC or just want to replace it with an aftermarket one? Here is how to do it.
You will need to grab a flat screwdriver, a Phillips one as well, a ratchet with extender and follow these steps:
  • First, unscrew the gear shifter knob and remove it
  • Next, grab the plastic trimming piece surrounding the gear shifter and pull it upwards to remove it. Don’t forget to unplug the cigaret lighter’s power cord
  • Go upwards and pull out the big trimming on the central console that contains the air con controls and disconnect the cables attached to it. Use the flathead screwdriver to pry it open if you can’t with your bare hands
  • Grab the Phillips screwdriver and remove the two screws that hold the radio unit in its lower side
  • Next, use the ratchet and extender to remove the bolts on the upper side
  • Take out the radio unit and unplug its cables at the back
  • If you need to mount a new unit use the metal mounts on the original unit to adapt the aftermarket one.
