While you may have been thinking that the 500L MPV was going to be less-than-entertaining to drive, Fiat has set out to prove you wrong. An autoedizione.com editor spotted a 500L with masking tape on the front, and a very conspicuous writing on the side, saying ‘1.4 MultiAir Turbo DDCT 165 HP’ - it does not get any more obvious than that.
Its badges were also covered, so they may, in fact, be Abarth badges, an aspect which would give this little sporty MPV real kudos. Also, the letters DDCT designate the Fiat group’s dual-clutch gearbox, also used in a variety of Alfa Romeo models and reportedly it is very good and works very well.
No real information on when they will be brining it out, but since they are already testing out the more powerful engine, we at least know it’s not just a rumor, and it is really something we are looking forward to driving - it will be a unique offering in a market share solely concentrated on efficiency, practicality and efficiency.
