Superyacht concepts allow us to dream about the craziest innovations we'd like to experience on board. The only downside is that often they're too far ahead. Ground-breaking yet perfectly reasonable, this highly-sophisticated Italian design blends the best of both worlds, showing what a futuristic floating mansion is all about.
The incredibly dynamic superyacht industry always has room for newcomers with great ideas and the means to achieve them. After a decade of working in the industry, Lorenzo Berselli made the bold step of launching his own studio. He named it Agon, inspired by the Greek word that once defined the idea of creative competitiveness.

Berselli gained precious knowledge working at acclaimed studios, such as the Trieste-based Alberto Mancini and the Luca Dini Design and Architecture studio in Florence. Still, his passion for boats had much deeper roots. As a child, he would spend wonderful vacations at sea with his family, sailing in the Mediterranean. These unique memories helped him understand the owner's point of view and shaped his vision.

The young Agon studio expressed its full potential with the recently-introduced concept, presented as Project Zero or Horus – another powerful name with ancient roots. Francesco Rogantin of Name Studio helped with the project's engineering part, resulting in an ultra-luxurious and efficient superyacht.

In line with the current green wave of new-generation pleasure craft that incorporate fuel-efficient technologies, Horus also boasts a hybrid-electric propulsion system. The flexible configuration allows it to cruise at medium speeds in diesel-electric mode and travel at low speeds with no diesel engine running. At 12 knots (13.8 mph/22.2 kph), it promises an outstanding autonomy of more than 5,000 nautical miles (9,260 km).

Performance is just a small but important part of the equation. Although contemporary in terms of efficiency, Horus is primarily about exquisite design and indulging comfort. Superyachts this size are often described as floating mansions, yet this 70-meter (230 feet) concept embodies this philosophy in a much deeper way.

First, how would you like to be greeted onboard as if entering your private Miami mansion? Horus doesn't sport a helipad, but something more intriguing and ingenious – the ability to dock bow-to straight unto the upper deck. Knowing that the master suite is located aft on the deck, overlooking the sea, this solution creates all the privacy that an owner would want in ports.

The idea of a Miami mansion or Tuscany villa is continued throughout the yacht, where the most striking design elements were directly derived from well-known traditional estates. For instance, the calcareous stone used for the traditional farmhouses in Puglia, Italy, served as the main inspiration for the flooring made of a special resin material. Mexican haciendas inspired the look of the main salon, flaunting an original colonnade.

The overall style, with its soft color palette, organic shapes, and gorgeous full-height windows, is meant to create a country house's warm yet highly-luxurious ambiance. The owner's suite is like a home inside a home.

Unfolding over 100 square meters (1,076 square feet) on the upper deck, this fabulous suite comes with all the dazzling features you'd expect, including a separate office, a large private jacuzzi, and breathtaking balconies on both sides. Best of all, it offers unexpected 270-degree views of the sea for a strong connection to the outdoors. A panoramic aft window (3.5 x 10 meters/11.4 x 32.8 feet) is an innovative addition with an overwhelming effect.

All the other cabins (four VIPs and two smaller ones) are placed on the main deck. In addition to enjoying full-height windows in all the rooms, guests have access to manual sunlight control. This was achieved by combining a louvered design along the bulwark with frames that can open upward, like the doors of a tender garage.

Since each cabin has its own separate frames, every guest can open or close the louvered bulwark door of their cabin. It's a truly luxurious addition to conventional guest cabins, creating much-needed privacy.

This magnificent superyacht boasts no less than three separate lounge areas. One is the main salon, dominated by the unusual colonnade, with sliding glass windows amplifying the feeling of spaciousness. A second, more informal lounge area awaits on the aft deck, flaunting modern recessed sofas and an oversized TV.

The bridge deck houses a third lounge area, functioning as a modern indoor-outdoor space. A circular couch, a fire pit, and a see-through glass walkway are some of the elements that turn this lounge into a futuristic yet cozy cocoon.

A large swimming pool is the main attraction of the generous beach club. A sliding awning system, carefully disguised within the vessel's structure, provides shade for this entire large area. Al-fresco dining, sun lounging, and ample seating – everything is accessible on this fabulous part of the yacht.

The remaining space is used for a luxurious gym and spa area, plus a spacious tender garage that can fit two eight-meter (26 feet) tenders, jet skis, and multiple toys. The crew cabins can also be found in this area, at the bow, while the captain's cabin and the wheelhouse are placed up on the bridge deck.

Supremely comfortable and sporting a futuristic elegance, Horus is undoubtedly one of those inspirational superyacht concepts we'd like to admire on the water.
