Kogo is a rarity in the lavish world of extravagant floating mansions because it only had two owners in almost two decades. Originally owned by the legendary Mansour Ojjeh, this French-build masterpiece has now found its third owner following a discrete in-house deal, marking one of the biggest used superyacht sales in the first quarter of 2024.
This 2006 Alstom megayacht only had two owners until now, but these were very disproportionate ownerships. While the late Mansour Ojjeh enjoyed this floating palace right up until his passing in 2021, the Hong Kong billionaire who allegedly purchased Kogo was ready to let it go after only three years. Still, it's easy to see why that would happen, considering that Samuel Tak Lee is said to be the owner of several ultra-luxurious megayachts, including Pelorus and Caipirinha, previously owned by Russian oligarchs.

When you own an entire fleet of exceptional pleasure craft, ditching one fabulous boat in favor of an even bigger or better one is common practice. Plus, Tak Lee is also known for his stunning luxury car collection, which would explain why he enjoys collecting superyachts as well and searching for the shiniest new toy in the market.

While he is allegedly waiting for a brand-new pleasure craft to be built for him somewhere at a European shipyard, the extravagant billionaire said goodbye to the Alstom-built megayacht that was lovingly owned by the genius entrepreneur who created the giant TAG Group, known worldwide for the TAG Heuer brand and its connection to the McLaren Formula One team.

As its name suggests, Kogo is yet another Oriental-inspired megayacht built for the most luxurious experience on the water. An artful combination between a Zen temple and a high-end spa resort, Kogo has everything it takes for ultimate, pampering comfort at sea while it carries its guests across long distances, thanks to its impressive 5,000-mile range, coupled with a 15-knot cruising speed.

Two of the biggest names in the industry are responsible for Kogo's majestic opulence: Tim Heywood, who signed the yacht's exterior design, and Terence Disdale Design, the brand that gave Kogo its breathtaking Zen ambiance. Built in France with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, this jaw-dropping mammoth was meant for world exploration in full comfort.

A true floating palace, the massive Kogo can easily accommodate 14 guests and a huge crew with more than 20 members. The impressive volume of nearly 2,000 GT also allowed it to include extravagant amenities such as a jaw-dropping outdoor cinema, a full-blown spa area, an indoor theater, and multiple dining options, both inside and al-fresco.

Last refitted in 2021, at the same shipyard where it was built, the 72-meter (236 feet) Kogo is perfectly ready for new adventures despite its venerable age.
