Honda Teasingly Announces 2012 CR-V on Its Website

With all the hype around the CR-Z hybrid racer made by Honda’s in-house tuner, you’d be forgiven for thinking we’re talking about a two-door tree-hugger, but we’re actually reporting on the Japanese carmaker’s crossover, which will reportedly see an all-new model hitting the market with an improved design and features.

Honda wants to generate some interest for the new CR-V, and it has announced that the all-new 2012MY is coming soon. There’s no teaser picture or leaked info here, just a picture of a tunnel with a light at the end of it, which is probably a screenshot taken from an upcoming commercial.

The Japanese carmaker will reveal the CR-V bit by bit over the coming months and will publish regular updates via email if you subscribe.

Honda last revised the CR-V in 2009 as a 2010MY, when the model received slight styling tweaks and a bit more power. For the US market the 2.4-liter gasoline engine received a bump in power from 166 hp to 180 hp. Standard interior features were also improved upon, with Bluetooth HandsFreeLink included on models equipped with the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System.

The 2012 Honda CR-V is expected to arrive this Autumn with a slight increase in power and efficiency. The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder petrol-burner will most likely be the mainstay for the US market, while the 2.2-liter i-DTEC diesel could make around 165 hp in Europe.
