Honda says that 45,747 Odyssey minivans from the 2008 and 2009 model years will have to be recalled due to a y faulty gas-filled struts on vehicles equipped with a power rear liftgate. If you have one of these previous generation people movers, look to be notified by the manufacturer for a recall that starts in March. Still, the 2011 Odyssey also suffered from front door glass issues, so despite being called the safest minivan last year, it was not without its faults.
We don’t know the exact details, but the NHTSA says the struts are going to prematurely wear due to a manufacturing flaw. This could result in a leak of pressurized gas from the piston. If the struts don’t have enough gas pressure, they might not be able to handle their load and the liftgate could unexpectedly crash onto you.

Owner notification will begin in mid-March, and of course the faulty struts will be replaced free of charge.
