Just recently, the Honda City was launched at the and the guys from IndianAutosBlog went there to check things out. Surprisingly, besides taking a look at the brand new City, they managed to obtain some interesting info on Honda’s Mobilio.
In case you might not know too much about this particular vehicle, it is a Brio-based MPV that was produced by Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), the company’s manufacturing and sales joint venture in Indonesia. According to the guys from Honda, the Mobilio is stated to be the company’s first model in the lower priced MPV category.
So, this 4.4 meters long car was especially designed for Indonesia’s best selling segment as it was produced based on “research conducted in Indonesia regarding local road and and weather conditions, and customer needs.”
Even so, when asked about the Mobilio’s launch in India, Mr. Shigeru Yamazaki, senior VP of marketing and sales at Honda India said that the vehicle will make its debut in the next fiscal year, which basically means somewhere between this March and March 2015. It appears that Indian drivers will be seeing Honda’s Mobilio soon enough.
Because the Mobilio isn't going to be all that cheap, expect both the 1.5-liter i-VTEC and eventually the 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel to be available.
