Honda expands operations taking the first step into a new market, Bangladesh. The Japanese manufacturer opened up a joint venture operator, Bangladesh Honda Private Limited (BHL) and started the production of the CD80 motorcycle in October 2013.
The year end brings the first two dealerships, one in Tangail and the other in Jamalpur, and the official start of sales.
According to Honda official sources, the new market will soon see 6 models in the dealership. However, only two of them are known at the moment, the aforementioned locally-produced CD80 and the Indian-made Dream Neo. Parts sales and regular maintenance will also be offered by Bangladesh Honda Private Limited (BHL).
Bangladesh has a population of 150 million, with around 200,000 motorcycles sold in 2012, according to Honda's internal research.
