On November 10, the History Channel will air a six-hour programming event dedicated to American trucks.
There will be in all seven episodes in the series called Truck Weekend in America, all airing on Saturday and Sunday. Expect to see a lot of tribute paid to Ford’s F-Series pickups, and for a good reason, as the Blue Oval is the main sponsor of the special
The first episode of the series will pit truck owners against each other in “grueling challenges to test their ingenuity and driving ability.” The second will see two unnamed truck builders “compete for a sale as they find, restore and put their personal stamp on two classic trucks.”
Episode three will go behind the scenes of making a Ford F-150 pickup, as camera crews go to the River Rouge Complex to document the manufacturing process of a Built Tough machine, from stamping raw aluminum to final assembly.
Episode four is episode one all over again, only with different people and trucks. The fifth installment will see American Restoration’s Rick Dale go out to find a truck and bring it back to its former glory.
Perhaps the most exciting episode of the show will be the sixth, dedicated to truck customizers, as it will show incredible machines that come out of American workshops, including Ken Block’s RaptorTrax or Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s creations.
The Truck Weekend in America will end with a half-hour special dedicated to “first responders and their souped-up custom trucks.”
“More than a century ago Ford put America on wheels, and today our trucks are a vital part of the way people work, play and live,” said in a statement Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president for. marketing, sales, and service.
“Truck Weekend in America is a tribute to the passion of our engineers as well as our customers, and to both the history and the future of the pickup truck.”
