The Hellcat engine has been with us since 2015 and still, we can't get enough of it. Nevertheless, there are also aficionados out there who simply love take down Hellcats. And we are now here to bring you an example of this.
The sutnt we have here involves a BMW 335i and a Charger wrapped around that supercharged HEMI. Now, as anybody with automotive common sense would point out, the Bimmer is no match for the slab of America.
However, while the Bavarian coupe started out in life as 2013 335i, the machine has been taken far, far away from its factory form. As such, its 3.0-liter straight-six has been gifted with a 6466 precision turbocharger.
And since the engine block seems to be in stock condition, the boost was kept to 20 psi. Note that the engine works with a DCT tranny, so all the driver has to do is mash the gas and wait for that turbocharger to work its magic.
When it comes to the Charger Hellcat, this is stock, at least as far as we know, which means its blown 6.2-liter V8 churns 707 ponies. Unlike the Challenger Hellcat, the Charger only comes in eight-speed auto trim.
Alas, the drivers of the two machines decided to skip the safety and the prepped surface of the drag strip. As such, the beasts battled on the street, going for the usual rolling start. To be more precise, the hostilities kicked off at 40 mph (make that 65 km/h).
You'll get to see the whole adventure in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page. However, the clip starts with a dyno run of the 335i, with the graph showing the Bavarian toy delivers 636 horses. Now, this is the power at the rear wheels, which means the crankshaft output of the thing sits at north of 700 horses.
