Growth for Audi in August

After yesterday German manufacturer Audi gave us a taste of what last month meant for it in China, the company's numbers for worldwide August sales are in. As it was the case in the last several months, the carmaker grew again in terms of vehicles sold, posting record sales figures in two of its markets, the US and China.

Audi sold last month 80,300 vehicles, a number which represents an increase of 22 percent over the same month of 2009. In Germany, the carmaker sold 15,394 cars (9.2 percent increase), in the US 9,182 vehicles (14 percent increase) and in China, as we told you yesterday, 22,358 units (a huge 67.5 percent increase). And things are likely to get even better, as several models, including the A1, will start being available in the near future.

“We are experiencing a considerable rise in demand in Germany,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi member of the board in charge with Marketing and Sales.

“For the launch of the Audi A1 we recorded the highest-ever number of visitors during the first weekend. Over the next few months, we are expecting sales to go up further on our domestic market.”

Earlier this month, Audi also announced the pricing for their newest model, the A7 Sportback. Aimed to be one of the top models offered by the Ingolstadt based manufacturer will retail in its home market starting from EUR51,650 for the entry level version ($66,520). Prices for the model on the rest of the markets were it will be sold are likely to be announced in the following weeks.
