Presented by the good folks over at Truck Hub Magazine and filled with parts from great vendors like Roadster Shop, Hurst Performance, or Rotiform, this is an LML Duramax creation by Boneyard Builds from "just outside of Birmingham, Alabama."
Chevrolet is on a killing spree – after they axed the sixth generation Camaro pony and muscle car late last year, with production ending in December 2023, they just revealed that a tenth generation Malibu is not coming, after all. Instead, the ninth iteration will be discontinued this fall season and, in its place, will come the second generation of the Chevrolet Bolt, most likely morphed into a fresh crossover SUV.

Well, it seems that General Motors is going down the Ford Motor Company route with Chevrolet – it will only have one passenger car in production, the C8 Corvette, just like the Blue Oval brand only has the S650 Mustang on the assembly line. The rest of the family will be composed of crossovers, SUVs, and trucks. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but what happens if you want a Chevy that is unlike anything they're building today?

Obviously, there are many solutions to such a conundrum. Of course, if you ask around truck enthusiasts, one of the best ideas would be to play with an old-school C/K-series model and bring it back to life as a spectacular restomod. Also, just in case you're feeling naughty, you could also add something spicy – or subtract a traditional element.

No worries, there's no need to take our word for granted, as we have an eloquent example featured in the gallery above and the social media post embedded below. What we are looking at is a second-generation 1970 Chevrolet C10 that's unlike anything that exited the factory for that original model year. Reimagined by Boneyard Builds on top of a Roadster Shop with a four-link independent suspension and riding extra low on 19-inch Rotiform SIX three-piece gold forged wheels, this would be just another run-of-the-mill (expensive) C10 truck in a sea of restomods.

However, the monster powertrain hinted by the humongous rear tires is good for 802 horsepower and doesn't even have spark plugs. Contrary to V8 gasoline builds, the owner and the shop went with the most-built 6.6-liter Duramax diesel powerplants, the LML V8, which in OEM configuration only makes 397 hp and 765 lb-ft (1,037 Nm) of torque. Well, this one jumped a little more than double thanks to a compound turbo system and now also has 1,612 lb-ft of torque!

For the double-whammy, they also went with a "righteous ZF 6 trans with a Hurst shifter," and all the oomph is sent through SPEC one-off twin-disc clutch to a Ford 9-inch rear-end. Additionally, there was loads of custom bodywork – including for the bespoke hood opening that lets the turbos breathe via a short exhaust piping system. Oh, and in case you were wondering about the paintjob – it's BASF Jeep Moss Green sprinkled with a custom pearl mix basecoat.
