The GMS Sierra EV Denali has been seen in public for the first time. The model was seen on the streets of Michigan. Photos of the outing were uploaded on social media by the GMC and Buick Vice President.
The GMC Sierra EV Denali was spotted for the first time in public. The vehicle was undergoing testing, as reported by the GMC and Buick VP, Duncan Alfred. “The Holiday lights are shining bright. The stunning GMC Sierra EV out on test in Michigan,” he wrote on former Twitter / current X.

The vehicle showing up in the photos is an Edition 1. Unveiled in October 2022, the electric pickup truck is yet to start deliveries. However, the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 was sold out in the first 24 hours after reservations opened on the month of its official unveiling. GMC did not disclose how many examples were available back then.

The Edition 1 is the launch trim, available for the first year that the model spends on the market, and comes with special equipment. GMC is delaying the arrival of the variant, which was supposed to launch in early 2024.

Now, the carmaker's website indicates the summer of 2024 as the expected debut date of the Sierra EV Denali as a 2025 model year. The Denali variant will reportedly arrive with a price estimated to start at around $107,000.

The figure will make it the most expensive GMC Sierra ever offered. At the opposite end of the lineup, there will be the entry-level Elevation trim, which will not arrive, though, before 2025.

The electric Sierra in the photos sports the illuminated grille outline supporting the ‘GMC’ lettering, flanked by the signature LED headlights. The model is painted in gray, rides on bi-tone multi-spoke 25-inch alloy wheels, and sports black side mirror cases.

There is also a photo from inside the cabin, which shows the tablet-like 16.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, the largest ever installed in a GMC Sierra. The driver gets the relevant information regarding driving on the 11-inch digital instrument cluster and on the multi-color head-up display.

Underpinned by the Ultium 800-volt architecture, the first-ever electric GMC Sierra is powered by two electric motors, one mounted on the front axle and the other one at the rear, in an all-wheel drive setup. Together, they generate 754 horsepower (764 metric horsepower) and 785 pound-feet (1,063 Newton meters) of torque with MaxPower mode engaged.

The system integrates a massive lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 200 kWh, which stores enough energy for an approximate range of 400 miles (644 kilometers).

The model should feature a towing capacity of 9,500 pounds (4,309 kilograms), which is below the Tesla Cybertruck’s 11,000-pound (4,990-kilogram) capacity. The Sierra EV will get the four-steering system with CrabWalk, like the Hummer EV and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. The EV will be able to run from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in less than 4.5 seconds, as reported by the carmaker.

The pickup truck will arrive in a segment that is already crowded: the Tesla Cybertruck, the Hummer EV, the Chevrolet Silverado EV, and the Ford F-150 Lightning are not going to sit and watch it enjoy its time on the market.
