Early 2019 will mark the launch of the Mercedes GLC-Class mid-life facelift. The project has been under development for many years, and this spy video takes us closer than ever to its interior.
As expected, the GLC continues to differ from basically every other Mercedes model. Starting with the W222 S-Class, Mercedes introduced the so-called panoramic screen setup, made up of twin displays covering most of the dash. However, this model features a more traditional configuration.

The GLC is based on the same platform as the C-Class, which also received a mid-life facelift. As expected, the two will share a new digital configuration with the screen recessed inside the instrument binnacle, like Audi's Virtual Cockpit. The Mercedes solution is flexible but doesn't have the versatility of the latest MBUX setups.

A new infotainment screen has also been installed on this prototype, and it is higher resolution with better maps. Interior updates include a new steering wheel that's cluttered with everything from cruise control to screen controls. The AMG will add a nice toggle/display.

Speaking of which, we have to mention that the GLC will have a lot of new engines next year. For Europe, a major highlight will be the new 2-liter diesel, offering more power than the previous 2.1-liter unit. The GLC 220 d will go from 170 to 194 HP, while the 250 d could produce as much as 245 HP. Power will also be added to the 2-liter gasoline unit while the GLC 43 will be pushed past 400 ponies.

Unfortunately, the 63 model from AMG will retain its current output while receiving tweaks to its drive modes, gearbox, and interior trim. Obviously, this facelift will also affect the GLC Coupe. Both will feature new front and rear bumpers, as well as at least two different LED headlight looks to differentiate the prestige models from the sporty ones.
