Forced induction is in the nature of American tuning, and Ford Mustang owners know it too well. Whipple is one of the companies that offer the best solutions for added bang, and Lethal Performance is very knowledgeable in Whipple blower systems.
Owners of Gen 1 and Gen 2 applications can now get the Gen 3 rotor upgrade through Lethal Performance, and the list of compatible cars is extensive. Here goes: 2011 to 2018 Ford Mustang and F-150 with the 5.0-liter V8, 2010 to 2014 F-150 (including Raptor) and F-250 with the 6.2-liter V8, 2007 to 2014 Shelby GT500, 2003 to 2004 SVT Cobra, and the 1994 - 2004 SVT Lightning.

FCA vehicles haven’t been forgotten, with the Gen 3 Whipple 2.9L supercharger upgrade being compatible with the 5.7-, 6.1- and 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engines in the 2006 – 2018 Dodge Challenger and Charger, Chrysler 300, 2012 to 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, as well as the 2010 – 2018 Ram 1500. The question is, how much better is Gen 3 over its forebear?

Essentially an upper half swap, the bolt-on upgrade features all-new 3/5 rotors that with updated rotor profile and new advanced manufacturing methods, “allowing more accurate and tighter tolerances along with increased efficiency.” What’s more, each rotor benefits from robotically sprayed conformal rotor coating. Last but not least, the new double lip PTFE rotor seals enable higher RPM, higher temperature, and higher pressure ratios.

Testing on multiple applications reveals that gains range from 30 to 150 RWHP depending on engine specifications and blower speed. Standard pump gas applications are certain to get another 30 RWHP over stock because boost maintains. The price Whipple charges for the complete supercharger and Gen 3 kit on its website? Well, pony up $3,900 for the 6-rib belt system!

Lethal Performance, meanwhile, has an even better offer. According to the Wellington, Florida-based shop, every customer that orders a new Whipple supercharger can get the Gen 3 upgrade for $200. Not a bad offer, huh?
