These days, as the 2024 Geneva Motor Show is struggling to recapture the ritz and glamour of old times, only Chinese carmakers and the Renault Group jumped to the rescue.
Well, we are not sure that's enough, but at least we got to see the latest models from China trying to make a breakout performance on the European market and the interesting reveals from Renault and Dacia. The former brought the revived Renault 5 E-Tech retro-modern electric car to the show. At the same time, the latter demonstrated how the Jogger and third-gen Duster SUV paved the way forward for every other model in the family.

Dacia also refreshed the little 2024 Spring electric hatchback, which looks like a shrunken Duster now – and we mean that in the best possible way. However, maybe it's time to discuss what happens next and how Renault is taking advantage of the Romanian brand's popularity and coolest models. As a reminder, some of the models in the Dacia range are also sold as rebranded Renaults. Still, there's also a derivative that Old Continent fans would love to come home from South America – the Renault (Duster) Oroch four-door compact unibody pickup truck.

On sale since late 2015 and marketed primarily across Latin America, this compact pickup truck still has loads of space for five people on board and a 680 kg (1,499 lbs.) load capacity, among other features. That's primarily thanks to the elongated chassis, which increases the length to around 4.7 meters (185 inches) instead of the SUV's 4.34 meters (171 inches). Naturally, that makes it a significant foe, sparring with competitors like the Chevrolet Montana and even the all-new, first-ever Ram Rampage.

Some will say it's a better fit for a brawl with the Fiat Toro, for example. However, it's still shorter than both Stellantis siblings, so it's actually the 4.71-meter (185.7-inches) Chevy Montana that's directly at odds with the Renault Oroch (they dropped the Duster moniker in 2022). No worries, if the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is allowed to have its way (via Kolesa and their resident pixel master), the second-generation Renault Oroch based on the third Dacia Duster SUV iteration will be ready to fight off anything, even a potential attack from North America by way of a Ford Maverick or Hyundai Santa Cruz drop to markets down South.

With the adventurous yet mature design of the Dacia Duster all over it but using Renault branding, the next-gen Oroch is also unofficially envisioned with yet another increase of the wheelbase and a significantly lengthened rear, too. Interestingly, it completely ignores the recent Renault Niagara Concept and settles for down-to-earth looks that would probably make it just as affordable as the current iteration. So, do you like it or not?
