French Adventurer in Citroen Berlingo EV Completes African Journey

It took Frenchman Xavier Chevrin 38 days to complete his 5,800 Km (3,603 mile) trip through Africa, in an all-electric Citroen Berlingo powered by Venturi technology.
Upon completing the epic trip, Xavier said "Out of the total 5,800 km, we drove over 600 km of trails We encountered mud (it was the end of the rain season), stony paths, lots of sand and dust. But the car stood up to everything very well. Venturi has just proven that electrical technology can adapt to all terrains in Africa, thus opening up the path to new economic and environmental prospects on this continent."

During the trip, the Berlingo’s 70.5kWh sodium chloride battery pack was recharged roughly 40 times, in six different countries with Xavier having to convince the people of various areas to allow him to ‘plug in’.

He succeeded in his mission to prove that EV technology can work in extreme conditions, and do so well, as he took his converted Berlingo through some of the most inhospitable places on earth and it proves that EVs are viable, no matter where you live or what type of vehicle you need.
