Probably one of the most anticipated world debuts at this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show is the MINI Roadster Concept, which was finally revealed today, satisfying our curiosity on how would the model looks like. The unveiling of the Roadster came just in time to properly celebrate MINI’s 50th anniversary, joining the MINI Coupe Concept in the what the manufacturer called the Oxford Twins presentation.

If the Coupe Concept was revealed prior to the much awaited event, the Roadster was kept in secret from the public eyes until now. Just as expected, the two-seater’s design stays true to MINI’s philosophy, but not bringing a number of innovative styling features.

The front section including the large headlights and the hexagon radiator grille is the same as on the MINI Cooper S up to the A-pillars, while the entire front air dam has been adjusted to increase the sporty look of the car. The inner area within the chrome radiator grille comes with louvers in body color, while the bonnet stripes extending all the way into the radiator grille.

The passenger compartment is covered by a soft top which folds down in a compact configuration that leads on to a short luggage compartment separated from the passengers. And don’t expect too much, as the soft top opens and closes manually. However, the luggage capacity remains exactly the same with the roof both open and closed.

The single-piece aluminum bar covering the entire width of the interior and moving up whenever required interacts with the reinforced windscreen frame as an essential element of maximum occupant safety on the passenger cell.

The interior features include high-class wooden trim and selected color highlights on the door linings and seat upholstery, providing an attractive contrast to the all-black interior.

The cockpit of the MINI Roadster Concept comes with a multi-functional display, positioned to the left of the rev counter, and serving, for example, to show the driver exactly how much time he has spent on the road with the roof down, like with the Always Open Timer on the MINI Convertible.

There is no information on the car's performances, pricing or on when will the Roadster enter production, but it will pretty much have the same powerplants and performance figures as the Coupe. However, we will keep you posted on the progress.
