Most people expected Alfa Romeo to show a facelifted MiTo at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show but they were disappointed. The car they showed looked exactly the same as the MY2013 model.
However, the changes will be noticeable on the road, according to Italian officials. The 2014 MiTo will have a new 0.9-liter 2-cylinder TwinAir engine with a manual 6-speed gearbox that delivers 105 HP and 120 Nm (88.5 lb-ft) of torque available from 1,750 RPM.

That's not all though. The car will be fitted with a DNA selector that has a Dynamic mode on it. When activated, the torque increases to 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) available from 2,000 RPM.

With the new engine, the fuel consumption is said to go down to 4.2 l/100km (56 mpg) and the CO2 levels will go further down to 99 grams of CO2 per km. The most remarkable thing though, is that the new engine will allow the car a top speed of 184 km/h (114 mph).

The other engines in the line-up will still be available, including the most popular 1.3 and 1.6 JTDM diesel units with 86 HP and 120 HP and the other 5 petrol units ranging from the 70 HP 1.4-liter up to the 170 HP 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine.

Sure, Alfa Romeo will claim that the car was also slightly redesigned but we think a new combination of leather upholstery and new customizing options can hardly be called a facelift.
