It took us a while to get accustomed to the idea that the new Ford Mondeo will, in fact, be a rebadged version of the American Fusion, but when we finally got over our prejudiced view of rebadging and whatnot, and actually took a good look at the car, we realized it is more of a natural evolution of the current Mondeo, rather than an American car, which would be brought to Europe.
While the European model is still at least one year away (the Genk factory, in Belgium, where it was supposed to be built getting closed down by 2014 - production will commence in Spain), the American branch of Ford is hard at work promoting it as the Fusion. They have enlisted the help of renowned Chinese urban artist, Liu Bolin, whose work is called ‘Hiding in the City’, and it involves manually painting various objects and people in such a way that from a predetermined angle, you can barely see them.

This is what they’ve done with the ad campaign for the new Fusion, which revolves around the idea that the new car ‘makes everything disappear’. It is a fresh and unique idea, in a market overflowing with copycat efforts, and it will undoubtedly achieve the desired effect - the Aston Martin-esque grille will help, of course.
