The all-new Ford Transit is already designed to be better than its predecessor it every single way, and fuel efficiency is no exception, and while the regular model gets very good figures, the company has just unveiled an even more frugal variant, called the Transit Custom ECOnetic.
It features the same 2.2-liter diesel engine, with 100 hp, yet it gains different gearing, for improved efficiency, a start/stop system, as well as low rolling resistance tires. This means that the Transit ECOnetic is easily the most fuel-efficienct vehicle in its class, returning an excellent 6 l/100km, or 47.1 UK mpg. Another innovative feature is an ‘Acceleration Control system’, which the manufacturer claims will reduce consumption by between 4% to 15%.
“The Transit Custom already delivers great fuel economy and the new ECOnetic model pushes the bar higher, into the realm of the family cars [. . .] The Transit Custom ECOnetic is packed with advanced fuel-saving technologies that help businesses keep running costs to a minimum and reduce their carbon footprint,” said Barb Samardzich, VP of Product Development at Ford Europe.
