It looks like Ford took a page straight out of car design to create the Tourneo Custom Concept for the Geneva Motor Show that starts in a couple of weeks. This previews the European version of the Transit van. This new look will be applied to all of the light CV that will enter production most likely starting in the later part of 2012.
Styling elements are borrowed from Ford’s "Kinetic Design" language. The van comes with a large trapezoidal grille and for the first time some visible humps over the wheels, giving a muscular look.
“One look at the Tourneo Custom Concept is enough to tell you that it will inject an exciting new spirit into the personal use segment,” said Stephen Odell, CEO of Ford Europe.
“By applying the latest Kinetic Design principles, the design has a completely new style and drama,” said Paul Campbell, chief designer, Ford of Europe.
Under the bonnet is a 2.2-liter Duratorq Duratorq TDCi diesel engine, which was initially introduced in 2011. Three power ratings will be available: 100 PS, 125 PS and 155 PS. All versions are paired with a six-speed manual transmission and feature front-wheel drive.
