The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded Ford's 2014 Transit Connect Wagon a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in its New Car Assessment Program. This comes as no surprise after the European version of the vehicle, known on the Old Continent as the Tourneo Connect, earned the same number of safety stars from the European New Car Assessment Program last year.
“Transit Connect Wagon gives people on the go a unique-looking, fuel-efficient vehicle that also provides a high level of safety,” said Steve Kenner, director of Ford’s global automotive safety office. “The suite of safety and driver-assist features available on Transit Connect makes it a great choice for families and businesses.”

In the U.S., the Blue Oval launched the model earlier this year in versions seating five to seven passengers. The Transit Connect Wagon's body structure is built from high-strength steels, including 16 percent boron steel. On the safety front, all seating rows feature side curtain airbags, while driver-assist features include a backup camera with parking sensors front and back and the industry-exclusive Ford MyKey technology.

As a brief reminder, the 2014 Ford Transit Connect Wagon achieves 28 mpg highway / 20 mpg city if fitted with the 2.5-liter unit. Prices start from $22,000 for the SWB XL version and top at $24,525 for the LWB with Rear Liftgate XLT.
