The 2014 Ford Transit Connect van can return up to an EPA-estimated 30 miles per gallon on the highway, the Blue Oval manufacturer announced earlier this week. The number is available for models fitted with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine (178 hp / 184 pound-feet).
Ford says the cargo van will return 30 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city (25 mpg combined) with the aforementioned engine, while the base 2.5-liter inline-four (169 hp) will manage 29 mpg highway and 21 mpg city.

Using EPA estimates, Ford brags that the 1.6-liter EcoBoost Transit Connect Van can save $250 in fuel costs over five years compared to the Nissan NV200 and $1,750 compared to the Ram C/V.

Moving over to the Connect Wagon, the passenger version achieves 29 mpg highway / 22 mpg city with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost and 28 mpg highway / 20 mpg city when fitted with the 2.5-liter unit.

As a brief reminder, the 2014 Ford Transit Connect Van can be had from $22,000, while the Connect Wagon starts from $2,500.
