It had to happen sooner or later. With all the attention on police, one of the force's largest suppliers of police-ready vehicles, Ford, has fallen into the attention of its people.
As we know Ford produces an Interceptor for our police forces. Due to recent events and an increase in attention upon police forces and infrastructure, Ford too now falls into the radar of recent anti-police movements. But why? They aren’t the police. They don’t have to be. Nowadays it’s enough to be guilty be association. And it’s this association that has gotten the attention of Ford’s own employees.

Over two-thirds of all police vehicles on the streets seem to be of Ford origin, making the automotive giant a clear target in disrupting the chain of police equipment. Everyone knows the classic Crown Vic’ that’s been in the movies for ages and even on our streets.

Hopefully you’ve never had one in your rear-view. If you don’t know what I’m talking about look at the photo below and go “Aw,yeah.” But after its discontinued production, we have been seeing a rise in presence of F-150s and Expeditions.

And most recently, these vehicles have been under a bad light, as they have been used as tools to do whatever people think of doing. And there in the background of your mind, you see a blue emblem upon which the word Ford is written. It’s exactly for this reason why the auto giant is facing internal turmoil. This idea that Ford is a part of the system has been enough to spark a movement of letters, murmurs, meetings, and even some unofficial responses. All within the confines of Ford facilities.

Basically, what’s going on is this. Workers within Fords facilities have been requesting that Ford police vehicles be discontinued from production as they are being used as a tool to project police brutality. Now that’s one touchy subject. How do you tackle something like this, when your marketing shows a pro-movement approach?

The problem behind all of this, is that if it goes south, and Ford cannot somehow manage the situation in a cool, calm and collected manner, then those two-thirds I mentioned earlier could just simply, poof! But then again, this wouldn’t be the first time the auto giant has seen pressure from within the ranks.

Also, Ford doesn’t seem to be the only company with ties to police that have gotten the ‘stinker’ recently. Trek, another company known for manufacturing police bikes, has gotten some similar treatment recently.

These recent ‘attacks,’ however, don’t seem to be an isolated event. None of what has happened so far has been. So it’s my fear that because there are other companies out there that also distribute police-ready vehicles to the task-force, like Chevy and Dodge, then they too will have their own place in the equation. Sadly, I feel it’s only a matter of time until we hear of them too. And not necessarily about the next vehicle to go into production.

To me, all of this seems to be a just matter of ‘guns don’t kill people’.
