With the Mustang’s 50th Anniversary just around the corner, the folks over at Ford Racing have announced they’re working on a supercharger for the range-topping V8 version of the brand new 2015 Mustang.
The Blue Oval’s racing division declined to go into specifics, but posted a teaser photo on its Facebook page, along with the following message:
“As promised, here’s your ’15 on the 15th update: A sneak peek at the Ford Racing super charger development for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT 5.0. Check back on the 15th of every month for more great insider looks at the ’15 Ford Mustang.”
While the announcement is brief and lacks any kind of information, it’s great news for Mustang enthusiasts in need of more than “just” the 420+ hp and 390+ lb-ft the stock Coyote V8 GT is slated to deliver.
With the supercharger on top, the 5.0-liter mill should deliver at least 500 horses, but it looks like we’ll have to wait for at least a month to access more details.
One thing’s certain, April is going to be a Mustang-packed month with the 50th Anniversary celebrations set to kick off and with the 2015 Mustang GT350 rumored to break cover at the New York Auto Show.
In case you missed it, Mustang owners and the Mustang Club of America (MCA) are planning a record-setting cruise from Charlotte Motor Speedway to Kannapolis, North Carolina. The parade will begin on April 18 and it’s expected to gather about 4,000 ponies.
