About six years ago, some 620 Ford Mustangs traveled from St. Eulalie to Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada, setting a Guinness World Record for the longest Mustang parade ever.
This achievement is very likely to be shattered this year, during the pony’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, which are scheduled to take place next month.

Specifically, Mustang owners with help from Mustang Club of America (MCA) are planning a record-setting cruise from Charlotte Motor Speedway to Kannapolis, North Carolina, and word has it about 4,000 vehicles expected to join the party, although the organizers have announced that just 400 drivers have signed up for the event.

“Our record attempt will begin at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord on Friday April 18, at the beginning of a cruise to historic Kannapolis, NC for an evening street party. A film and photography crew will be on hand to document the attempt so that accurate records will be submitted to Guinness,” the MCA said.

Mustang drivers willing to join the parade and help establish a new world record can register here by selecting the Kannapolis cruise event. Each driver must pay a registration fee of $15, with final proceeds to be donated to the Wounded Warriors Family Support organization. The cruise will being on April 18.

As a brief reminder, the Mustang 50th Anniversary celebrations, which are scheduled to commence with a huge pony drive on April 13, will also include festivities at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The celebrations will end with evening banquets and awards ceremonies in Las Vegas (the Luxor Hotel and Casino) and Charlotte (the Embassy Suites Charlotte-Concord). Guests will be joined by Ford executives, and past and present Team Mustang members.

Shelby American has announced plans to host a private gala for those who will attend the Mustang 50th birthday celebrations in Las Vegas on April 18.
