Just recently, American carmaker Ford said the Mustang Super Cobra Jet 1800 electric drag racer demonstrator managed a quarter-mile pass worthy of the history books – it nailed a new world record at 7.759 seconds during the National Hot Rod Association Winter Nationals.
It went past the crowds at a speed of 180.14 mph (298.9 kph), and this is already the second record of the silent monster. However, the aftermarket realm is already way past this point, and they're not even impressed enough to give us a 'hold my beer' moment. If you need an example, let's head out to another major drag racing event.

Between March 12 and 17, at the historical Texas Motorplex near Dallas, Texas, the well-known TX2K event gathered some of the coolest and quickest cars out there. Anyone was invited to join the party at the 2024 edition. But of course, the real action involved the heavily modified rides that sport six or seven-second ETs at the local quarter-mile dragstrip. And there was an abundance of them.

In fact, nothing was left out of the menu, from small or big crashes to new records. However, there was only one big winner, at least in the Street Car Elite Class – Brett LaSala and his 2,930-horsepower Ford Mustang GT still equipped with the 'factory' Coyote V8 engine. His green monster is not called 'Hulk' or anything like that but has a very ironic name – Snot Rocket 2.0!

Anyway, we have a couple of videos focusing on their marvelous performance at TX2K24, including footage of a near miss that was just another in the long series of 'it's a Mustang thing' kind of crash and (crazy) aftermath reaction. The good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube were on point during TX2K's 2024 edition, and they culminate the coverage with this green monster first racing a blue and white-striped Dodge Viper that was rather slow – probably due to a mechanical problem.

The Mustang, meanwhile, put everything into the proper perspective with a 6.57s victory in the first round. Next up, he faced three more high-powered Ford Mustangs, each with over 1,500 horsepower on tap. There was a gradient white-to-black Ford that crashed hard against the concrete barrier, so only the black with blue stripes and matte black Mustangs ultimately posed a challenge – they were both swiftly taught a high-powered lesson with improving 6.47s and 6.38s victories!

Secondly, there's also a video from The Drag Race channel where host John Torres catches an interview with Brett LaSala to discuss his quick performance at the recently concluded TX2K24 at Texas Motorplex. It's definitely worth a looksie, as it contains additional footage, including the hot reactions on the side of the track. Enjoy!
