The Internet is abuzz with loads of memes, and of course, the automotive industry has its fair share of drama queens. Naturally, one of the biggest is Ford Mustangs' tendency to defy all laws of gravity and (sometimes also) common sense.
It's a Mustang thing – how many times have we heard that? But it never gets old because the iconic Ford pony car has long become the stuff of legends, both good and bad ones. For example, it's the best-selling sports car out there, irrespective of detractors saying that it's nothing but a big American car that doesn't know how to corner. In most cases, they also supply evidence of someone 'doing a Mustang,' which is another way of saying it 'crashed.'

Things have gone as far as to see not only the Mustangs but also Dodge Challengers and Chargers, plus Chevrolet Camaros banned from several Cars & Coffee locations – and people are reacting furiously. Well, most of them are 'racers' only during their spare time, but it seems that the big nerves run through the spine of actual competitors, too.

For example, between March 12 and 17, at Texas Motorplex near Dallas, Texas, the well-known TX2K event gathered some of the coolest and quickest cars out there. Anyone was invited to join the party, but of course, the real action involved the heavily modified rides that sport six or seven-second ETs at the local quarter-mile dragstrip. Of course, when you run around 200 miles per hour (322 kph) on a narrow piece of tarmac, a lot of things could go wrong, right?

There is no need to take our word for granted, as we have yet another eloquent example of a big crash and high nerves in the aftermath. The good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube were on point during TX2K's 2024 edition, and currently, their coverage doesn't necessarily follow the traditional setup of who's best. Instead, the past few video features have focused on some of the high-profile mishaps at the track.

As such, we have already seen a cool Nissan Z hot rod restomod crash rather hard while battling a Toyota Supra Mk4 and an Audi R8 meet the concrete barrier while battling a Ford Mustang. Curiously, the latter also was close to losing control but avoided destruction and mayhem at the last moment – maybe the jester gods forgot this racer was in a Mustang. No worries, the next race wasn't so lucky anymore.

Thus, the latest video feature embedded below features a pair of Fords from different generations – a red-white-black S550 and a green with black stripe S-197 II. Initially, everything felt like clockwork, and the fresher S550 shot out like a rocket from the left lane with the front wheels slightly off the ground. However, that may have caused a big problem for the driver because the Ford Mustang racer lost control of his monster around half the quarter-mile distance as the car slid across both lanes and made contact with the right wall.

Meanwhile, the green Mustang darted to a stunning 6.54s victory! As we looked on to see if the driver was harmed or not, we found out that not only was he not uninjured but also that his nerves hit the boiling point – after he tried to control the crash with the chute and came out of the car he threw his racing gloves on the poor Mustang and furiously took out his helmet to gesture to someone in the background, possibly his team located at the start line.
