Sales of the new Ford Fiesta reached 500,000 units in October, after global retail sales of the car surpassed the 470,000 units milestone in September, with 430,000 sales in Europe and 40,000 in the Asia Pacific region.
"Customers around the world are recognizing the new Fiesta delivers on the global Ford DNA — eye-catching design, innovation, outstanding driving dynamics and great value," said Jim Farley, group vice president of global marketing and Canada, Mexico and South America.
According to official figures provided by the US-based manufacturer, 40 percent of the European buyers chose the Titanium and Ghia trim levels. Additionally, customers in the UK and Germany prefer the Panther Black color, similar to those in Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands and Greece.
Buyers in Spain, Austria and Russia are selecting Hot Magenta, those in Sweden are picking Moondust Silver while Denmark goes for Panther Black.
Separately, the company recently rolled out two new colors for the Fiesta, which will be available, starting with model year 2011, in Bright Magenta and Lime Squeeze.
“Brilliant colors are transforming the norms in how we think about all sorts of products, allowing people to express individuality more and more through the electronics they use and the cars they drive,” said Susan Swek, Ford group chief designer, Color and Materials Design. “Color is a simple way to allow people to add a personal touch to their everyday lives – something that speaks to them and expresses a little of their personality.”
In the United States, Ford will debut the new Fiesta at the Los Angeles Auto Show earlier this year.
