GM Extends 60-Day Money Back Guarantee

After it introduced the 60-day Satisfaction Guarantee program back in September, American manufacturer GM announced today it will extend it until January 4. The program is part of the “May the Best Car Win” marketing campaign and was extended, according to GM, because of the success the campaign has.

The campaign is getting the word out about how good GM’s new products are,” Jay Spenchian, marketing strategy executive director said during a media update on the marketing campaign. “We’ve seen positive coverage and increased awareness of launch products like the Buick LaCrosse and GMC Terrain.

More than 99 percent of buyers who choose to take the Satisfaction Guarantee are keeping their vehicle.

The current 60-day program, which ends on November 30, offers customers who buy GM vehicles the opportunity to return the car between 31 and 60 days of purchase and get their money back.

As was the case until now, the offer is valid only if you pay the car up-front. One cannot return more than one car/household and will only receive money back for the vehicle purchase price and sales tax, not for accessories, negative equity on a trade-in or other fees.

"We know that we'll need to work very hard to get people's attention and encourage them to give Chevy, Buick, Cadillac and GMC a try. We think the 'May the Best Car Win' campaign and the Satisfaction Guarantee offer should help re-instill confidence in the excellence of our products," Bob Lutz, GM marketing chief said when the campaign was launched.
