With the current generation getting pretty old now, it's no secret that the Blue Oval is currently baking an all-new Everest SUV. After it was spotted testing in cold weather conditions earlier this year disguised as the current-gen model, Auto Sohu carparazzi recently managed to snap a heavily camouflage pre-production prototype testing in China.
Also known as the Endeavour on some markets, the Everest mid-size SUV is based on the 2006-2012 Ford Ranger pickup truck, which in turn is derived from the Mazda BT-50. So it's only natural a new generation is in the pipeline. According to Ford, the upcoming model will be unveiled by the end of the year in full production form and is slated to go on sale in May 2015.

A number of reports hint that the Chinese market will be the first to receive the all-new Everest, followed shortly by Australia and New Zealand. In China, the Mk III Ranger will be manufactured by Ford's JMC joint venture and will be the largest SUV in the lineup.

From the way the checkered camouflage wraps bits and bobs of the spied test mule, it seems like differences between the production version and the concept unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show are minimal. Check out the front grille, side mirrors, as well as the shape of the windscreen and wheel design. The heavily camo'd mule is definitely similar to the concept, that's for sure.

When it will go on sale in China next year, the China-made Ford Everest will most probably receive three engine options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-pot, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and a Ford Puma (ZSD) 2.4-liter Duratorq turbo diesel. As for pricing, it's estimated the entry-level model will start around ¥250k (roughly $40,000) and the range-topper will command a ¥400k ($64,000) sticker price.
