Ford has announced that its all-new EcoSport SUV will be revealed tomorrow at the Paris Motor Show 2012. This is a small SUV the size of a Fiesta that was actually designed in Brazil and will also be sold in India.
Ford says that in Europe, it will be offered with their new 1-liter EcoBoost petrol engine and “best-in’class diesel engines” within the next 18 months. It will sit under the new Kuga in an SUV lineup that will also include the American Edge, which is a D-segment model.
The vague timeframe is probably because they haven't decided if they want to make it in Europe or import it here. Many of Ford's European factories are over capacity, and the EcoSport, might also be built in India.
“Ford EcoSport combines the value, quality and fuel efficiency of Fiesta, with the exciting look and feel of a modern SUV,” said Nick Collins, Ford’s global B car vehicle line director. “Its stylish design should prove a tempting addition for European customers to Ford’s B segment range, which already includes the innovative B-MAX compact multi-activity vehicle and the new Fiesta.”
autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
