The new Fusion-based Ford Mondeo is on its way. It was recently spotted testing in the Alps, sporting some minor camouflage to mask the very limited exterior design changes that will set it apart from its US counterpart - different front and rear bumpers (which will be completely body-coloured) as well as lights. The interior will also suffer some minor modifications and trim changes, to better suit the European market.
We think the Fusion on which the Mondeo is based is an excellent looking car which would definitely stand out in a crowded parking lot, easily, so the styling changes to suit European tastes will only make it look even better. One of the things that adds to the new car’s aesthetic appeal is its (enormous) length (4869 mm), as it will be even longer than the current model (4844 mm), a trait which translates into a lot of interior space, as well as a very sleek and elongated body shape which is very pleasing to the eye.

The engine lineup will be comprised of 1.6- and 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engines, all of which will be turbocharged and very good. A hybrid is also in the books, but it is not a sure thing for Europe where diesel is still king. Expect the new Fusion-based Mondeo to be officially revealed ahead of its 2013 debut (probably at the Paris Motor Show, in September).
