Ford Canada Grows by 6 Percent in January

A few days ago, Ford stepped in and proudly announced that its Chinese sales posted an impressive 128 percent sales increase in January. Today, it's the turn of the Canadian division to announce sales increases which turned January into the eight month of retails sales gains, as the company said in a release.

Specifically, overall vehicle sales were up 6 percent in January, while car sales grew by 1 percent. However, truck deliveries benefited from a surprising boost, with Ford confirming an increase by 7 percent last month.

In particular, Ford Fusion sales increase 18 percent while those of Ford Taurus rose 68 percent. Lincolns were popular as well, with MKZ deliveries going up by 37 percent. The biggest increase was however brought by MKX which posted a growth of 97 percent.

"The auto industry has definitely experienced a turbulent start to the year," said David Mondragon, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "But as a testament to the strength of our new product, Ford grew retail sales in January in spite of challenging industry headwinds."

"The SYNC My Ride Event comes at a perfect time since most provinces have a new law making it illegal to drive with cell phones or entertainment devices in hand," said Mondragon. "By offering SYNC for free, consumers are able to stay connected while keeping their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. In fact, more than half of the vehicles sold in Ford of Canada showrooms for January were equipped with SYNC."
