Ford Becomes the Number 1 Brand in Canada

Ford is the only large US-based manufacturer that hasn't applied for financial support from the American government and it looks like the company is performing pretty impressive in Canada as well. And we're not the ones saying it, but the latest figures rolled out by Ford of Canada.

To get straight into details, Ford is the best-selling brand in Canada, after overall sales increased 25.5 percent with total car sales up 9.5 percent and total truck sales growing 30.1 percent compared to last December. Furthermore, Ford F-Series is the best-selling vehicle in Canada and the best-selling pickup in the country for the 44th consecutive year.

"Our products drove our sales success in 2009. Canadian consumers showed confidence in the Ford brand and recognized the quality and value in our lineup," said David Mondragon, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "We grew our sales despite a down industry, powered by the freshest showroom in the country."

"The industry continues to show signs of strength and we see a modest recovery coming in 2010. Ford of Canada is well positioned to experience growth by offering leading products that consumers want and value," said Mondragon. "In fact, we have 10 launches for 2010, from all-new products, to advanced powertrains and innovative technologies – our lineup this year will have something for everyone."

Overall car sales were up 10 percent in December, according to official figures, while overall truck deliveries grew 30 percent as compared to the same month of the previous year.
