Ford Canada Sales Up 24 Percent

Just like the US-based parent company, Ford of Canada posted optimistic figures in September, with most models sold in the domestic market revealing significant increases. The Canadian division reported a growth of 24.3 percent compared to September 2008, mostly thanks to Taurus, Fusion, Focus and Mustang which attracted a lot of buyers in showrooms across the country.

"We continue to deliver strong new products, particularly our cars. In fact, nearly 70 per cent of sales come from our new models," said David Mondragon, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "We are encouraged by the continued momentum in the market. By focusing on delivering the best products in the industry, we'll continue to build a strong, sustainable business even in today's tough economy."

Ford Explorer is the model that returned the highest increase, with official figures provided by Ford revealing a 90 percent boost compared to last September.

"Consumers really appreciate Ford's accelerated approval process and are taking advantage of the 48-hour turnaround to be eligible for up to $3,300 in incentives," said Mondragon. "As a matter of fact, more than half of our Recycle Your Ride buyers are turning in vehicles from other automakers to come to Ford."
