Rivian started production of Dual-Motor R1T in May, with the first deliveries planned for June. Since then, the EV startup has increased production enough that the first R1T Dual-Motor pickup is available from inventory in the R1 Shop. Unfortunately, the configuration overshoots the $80,000 threshold set in the Inflation Reduction Act by $750, so it doesn't qualify for a tax credit.
Rivian has struggled much of last year with supply chain issues and production bottlenecks. That's when it figured out that using components designed and built in-house would not only be cheaper but also more practical. The Enduro drive units replacing the motors sourced from Bosch entered production in February and allowed the EV startup to cut costs and improve production rate.

Rivian also dropped two motors to increase availability, creating the Dual-Motor variants. Thanks to the performance improvements brought by the Enduro motors, owners would not feel they've lost much compared to a Quad-Motor version. At least, that's what people invited to experience the Dual Motor variants claimed after driving the R1T truck. That's good news because the Dual-Motor R1T is the first model that qualifies for the IRA tax credit, albeit only half of it ($3,750).

The first Dual-Motor customers took delivery of their trucks in June, although the delivery numbers were probably limited. With production ramping up, the availability increased, allowing Rivian more flexibility. This means, among other things, that select reservation holders could find them in the Rivian R1 Shop. And so they did, as one Redditor discovered after gaining access to the Rivian inventory shop.

The Dual-Motor R1T in Glacier White is a relatively common configuration with a Large-pack battery, Adventure Package, and 21-inch Road wheels. It has a Black Mountain and Dark Ash Wood interior and is painted in Glacier White on the outside. This is also its main drawback, as the $1,750 option raises the price over the $80,000 threshold set by the Inflation Reduction Act. At $80,750, it no longer qualifies for a tax credit, which would've been $3,750 if not for the optional paint.

If you're unfamiliar with the R1 Shop, this is an invite-only online store where people can select and order an existing configuration. Although many speculate that the vehicles available in the Shop have been refused or returned by other customers, this is not the case. There may be "orphaned" vehicles left after people cancel their orders. Still, most of them are built by Rivian in batches to optimize production. Some of those in the Shop may not have been built yet when listed, which explains the vague delivery window.

Not anyone can access the R1 Shop, with the privilege granted by request or when Rivian thinks it might have something similar to the configuration people pre-ordered. To qualify, you must live in an area close to a Rivian Service Center and have pre-ordered a Rivian. The access to the Shop is limited to one week only, so you don't have much time to decide.
