A couple of world records and a job well done are usually reasons to call back home to pass on the good news. But in the world of privately owned luxury vessels, secrecy is a must, so that means no trumpeting of good news to the world.
In July this year, word got out that Renaissance, a fully custom megayacht from Spanish shipyard Freire, had been delivered to the owner and that it would become available for charter the following season. The strangest part about the announcement was the level of secrecy around the build, unprecedented even by the high standards of the premium sector.

In much simpler words, for a megayacht with a reported value of $200 million and at least a couple of world records under its belt, there was close to nothing known about the Renaissance. Here was a megayacht-shaped, super-expensive mystery that seemingly, obstinately refused to open itself to solving.

But no more.

Renaissance is officially available for charter as of this writing, and the listing brings the first-ever look at this super-secretive vessel. If there's truth to the saying "good things come to those who wait," it's a good thing we waited: Renaissance lives up to the hype, and then some more.

At 112 meters (267 feet) in total length, Renaissance is the largest private yacht built in Spain and the largest commission ever handled by Freire, a shipyard that only did one superyacht before. It offers an incredible interior volume of 7,200 GT spread across six decks, which is more than enough to accommodate as many as 80 people, guests and crew together.

In another world first, Renaissance can sleep as many as 36 guests in 19 lavish cabins, including the oversize owner's suite.

With a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, Renaissance has naval architecture by Marin Teknikk AS, with exterior and interior design by Bannenberg & Rowell. The reported owner of the vessel is Anglo-American entrepreneur and billionaire Gary Klesch, who specifically asked for a multi-generational luxury vessel that would be a destination in and of itself, a goal that Renaissance more than lives up to.

Renaissance is a safe and luxurious haven for guests regardless of age and preferences, as long as said preferences involve an almost outrageous level of opulence. This is a vessel that stands out not just for size alone, though that alone is enough to impress even the least snobbish one-percenter, but for the decadent interiors and mind-blowing amenities.

For the first time since delivery, we regular folk have the chance to see what this means beyond the words on a page. The first photos from inside Renaissance, also available in the gallery above, show sumptuous spaces decked in gold and rich browns, with precious woods and stones, lush materials, and the finest selection of fabrics.

Renaissance is "a temple of leisure, a sanctum of tranquility," as per the listing, but it's both these things while also incredibly lavish and pretentious.

It has an entire deck dedicated to wellness, with everything from hot and cold plunges, sauna and steam room, makeup and beauty salons, and even a ballet bar with oversize mirrors for the daily stretching. The gym is equipped to an athlete's standards because you can do without a lot of things while on vacation, but not the daily cardio calorie-burning sesh.

Renaissance has a 19-person indoor cinema and a secondary outdoor theater for viewings on balmier nights. Good things come in pairs, so it has two pools as well: a large 33 by 16.4-foot (10 by 5-meter) pool for the entire party and a gorgeous jacuzzi on the private terrace on the owner's deck, where access is limited only to the owners and their personal guests.

The owner's suite takes up an entire deck, while another full deck is reserved for dining opportunities. The latter offers a "chef's table" experience with two BBQs and an outdoor pizza oven, but there's also a sushi bar and several indoor and outdoor dining areas. A formal double-height dining room adds a touch of prestige to very special occasions – and some much-needed drama.

The owner's deck, on the other hand, doubles as a private island within this private island. At the heart of it is the 646 square-foot (60 square-meter) cabin with his and hers bathrooms, a lounge with a bar and a dining area, a media room, another lounge that can host parties of up to 12 people, and the six-person Jacuzzi and adjacent areas littered with custom furniture pieces.

The beach club is described as "a destination in itself," with direct water access, a bar, and expanding side terraces. The garages are packed with toys for leisure and exploring, and the commercially certified helipad ensures a smooth transition for unexpected guests. The listing also highlights an "armada of all the latest watertoys" and a fleet of custom tenders to match Renaissance in style and spirit.

If these words are music to your ears eyes, how could they not be? Renaissance was designed and built as the perfect combination of luxury and leisure, with a little something for everyone and more than a fair share of elegance and opulence. But if you can act on whatever feelings these words spur in you, a week onboard Renaissance starts at €3 million, which is roughly $3.2 million at the current exchange rate.

And that's just one of the world firsts Renaissance bagged upon delivery: this megayacht is one of the most expensive, if not the most expensive, charter in the world.
